I keep mascara companies rich. Honestly – I can go through a tube in a month easy. But despite my love for dramatic lashes – I’ve never really had a good experience with false lashes.

My first big fail was in 2004 – a few days before my wedding. As I drove home from the salon, I looked in the rear view mirror and saw one full set of lashes – on my cheek.

My second experience was a “do it myself-er.” The folks at the MAC counter got me all psyched about the idea of putting lashes on myself.  They’re still in the box – mocking me each time I open my makeup drawer.

But lately – I’ve fallen in love with my eyebrow esthetician’s eyelashes! They are to die for – so dramatic and yet so natural. She recommended Lash Out Loud here in Seattle – and so I made my appointment (a 2 month wait!) and waited…until today.

I walked in, filled out some paperwork, used the bathroom (it’s a two our process) and laid down on the table. Here’s how it works:

The lash specialist picks up each extension one at a time, dips half of the extension into black glue, and then glues it to the top of my natural eyelash. Each extension is placed one by one until none of my own lashes are left without an extension.  Here are the results!

I was told to avoid steam or direct water to my lashes for the first 48 hours. They should last about 4 weeks. The whole process is not cheap – $160 bucks the first time – $60 for touch ups. Time will tell if they’re worth it…

This is the time of year when the temperature gets “temperamental.” You know, it’s too warm for a full on winter coat – but it’s way too cool for that cute little jacket you love so much. That’s what makes the vest so cool. It’s the perfect “in between” gear!
