Tonya Mosley

Tonya “NewNaturalista” is an award winning television reporter and multi media journalist.  She tells stories for a living, but what she loves most about her job is the discovery. She’s currently working on a documentary about the deeply rooted relationships black women have with food, weight and sexuality and how they intertwine. Tonya lives in Seattle, WA but was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Her heart can be found in both places. Tonya is fascinated by penguins, Mickey Rooney, the magic of David Blaine and stationary. She is also obsessed with  The Color Purple (both the movie and the color), coffee and any magazine she can get her hands on.

Sarah “The Buyologist” grew up in Detroit, Michigan as the fourth in a family of 6 children. As a creative child, she always asked for art supplies for Christmas, and learned to hide her supplies from her younger sister who, by December 26 would have used them all on the walls.  She is still a little bitter about this. As a result, she hoards. Sarah hoards any and everything but mostly designer clothing and shoes.  Sarah has recently decided to seek help for this issue. While honing her hoarding skills, she became adept at finding sales and passed this knowledge on to her friends and maybe in the near future, on to you, dear reader.  She is highly skilled at locating the latest designer accessories at rock bottom prices. In addition to her blood hound-like sales tracking skills she is a fashion designer. Currently living in New York and taking classes at F.I.T., she is developing a fashion line designed to celebrate all shapes. Yes, you have heard that before but Sarah actually means it.

Sarah feels best understood via bullet points:

  • Sarah loves cheese.
  • Sarah hates being put in a box.
  • Literally and figuratively.
  • Sarah talks a lot.
  • Sarah is a vegetarian, but it’s not political.
  • If you had to use a phrase to describe Sarah it would be “a study in contradiction”
  • Sarah doesn’t like when people use phrases to describe her.

Shon is just a bright ball of sunshine.  Her smile is infectious and her attitude about life just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  She’s also an inspiration.  With more than 15 years in broadcast journalism, Shon is a television reporter in Dallas, TX. She previously served as the host of BLACK ENTERPRISE magazine’s nationally syndicated program “Black Enterprise Business Report.”  Deeply committed to community service, Gables is on the board of Eagle Academy, an all boys public school in the Bronx, New York; she serves on the advisory board of EthiDolls, an Ethnic specialty doll manufacturer; and she is a volunteer mentor for DIVA, a non-profit, faith-based, youth mentorship program.  When she’s not out saving the world, she’s also a supermom to two boys and a little girl.
