n277669528189_5440Back in January I got a chance to meet 8 wonderful medics from the Seattle area, doing great things in Haiti. I was covering their story for my day job as a television reporter. We (my photographer and I) met them at the airport as they returned home from a week of emergency medical work over there. Their emotion was SO raw – I found myself teary eyed hearing their stories. Orphans pleading for help, moms and dads with broken limbs, babies with serious injuries. These guys are medics who witness horrendous stuff everyday and here they were crying, pleading with us to DO SOMETHING.

Two months later and they’re still working as hard as ever. They’ve formed a group called the International Medical Assistance Team (IMAT) and each week they dispatch teams of doctors, nurses, medics and dentists to provide medical services to those in need. According to one of the founders Chris Tompkins, there are STILL people in Haiti with serious medical needs.  Check out their blog – and do what you can for the IMAT cause, the people of Haiti still need you.
