Little Peyton is only a few weeks old, but she’s sure giving new mommy Shon Gables a run for her money. Speaking of “run,” Shon is determined to get rid of that extra baby weight by gearing up for a half marathon! Follow her journey. Read her pledge here!

Getting rid of excess weight is a battle that mimics just about any other fight in life. Ignoring it doesn’t make it go away. Wishing it away is just as ineffective…and cheating only hurts you in the end.

The best strategy is an honest assessment, accountability, a consistent fitness regime, a balanced nutrition plan and for me – Grace and Mercy.

1. I work better with a team. When I am weak, others on the team are strong. We balance each other out and keep everyone committed to the goal.

2. When I log everything I eat and how often I workout… I can’t lie to myself or anyone else. Bottom line: no one can earn rewards without the work. That’s why accountability is key!

With this in mind…it’s confession time. Uggghhh… What a very vulnerable place to be – but also liberating.

So here goes:

** I currently weigh 156 pounds. My goal is to drop 20 pounds in 4 weeks. That’s 5 pounds a week. Is that realistic? No. But I set goals high. If I drop 15 I’ll consider myself a success. If I lose all 20 – I met my goal!

** I promise to log everything I eat. Goals: no soda, no juice, water only (Crystal Lite accepted) no candy, no cookies after today (I know pitiful) and no bread – which I will substitute with fiber wafers.

** Run daily except Sunday. Log miles. 50 push ups and sit ups a day.

** Dedicate time every morning in prayer – speaking God’s promises over my plans. Life and death is held in the power of the tongue. Instead of complaining – I plan to speak life to all situations. Why not? I’ve certainly spent enough time doing the opposite.

** And finally, celebrate successes, even if deemed small.
