Okay, Peyton Anne is two weeks old – and I can’t help but celebrate her milestones! She’s already gained 1 pound, she’s grown 2 inches and she’s already holding her head up!
Coincidentally, her Mommy’s growing too – Just not in the cute baby cherub kind of way…
Now that my pregnancy glow has gone… My gut, (uhhh yeah, I still look 5 months pregnant. In fact, the cashier at the store told me so) is a nice glob of fat. It even has the nerve to have a dimple. Like it’s smiling at me.
I’d probably be depressed – if I had the time…but every two hours, Peyton’s clocking in for chow. That’s the reality for moms who choose to breast feed. It offers so many nutritional benefits – but whoever said it helps flatten your tummy, obviously hadn’t met me.
I had dreams of walking out of the hospital and my husband Anthony in awe, over my post-birth beauty. Instead he’s witnessed a permanent pony tail, no make-up, shorts, maternity t-shirts, an acne breakout and MY GUT. For the first time in my life – I feel my age. I am absolutely, utterly fatigued. The 35 extra pounds aren’t helping – but neither are my unhealthy eating habits and double portion sizes. I tried to convince myself the extra calories are needed for nursing, but I’m feeding a tiny little girl – not a herd of cattle.
So my blog is about to evolve. Once I’m medically cleared, I plan to train for my first half marathon in November.
Can I do it, pushing Peyton in her stroller?
What is it like to train and still nurse?
How long will it take to snap back into shape?
Can I convince all the boys in the house to eat healthier?
Will they forgive me if I remove all snacks?
And can I avoid having to purchase a new wardrobe?
Join us on this crazy ride called fitness and good health.
After all, just because you’re a mom at 40 doesn’t mean you have to look it – or in my case, feel it!

I love your blog, and this is the 1st time I’m commenting (lurker). In any event, I find your blog to be an aspiration. Looking forward to future writing and update on the marathon training.
