I love to run, especially in solitude. There is just something so liberating about being alone with your thoughts as your feet hit the pavement. So when my girl Dina asked me to join her “night run” group – I had to hesitate – not because I didn’t want to but because I’d actually never run 1. At night 2. With a group.
Well, it was awesome! We met up after work and hit the pavement. The exhilaration of running through the empty streets of downtown was an experience in itself. By day the streets are crowded…by night the glow of the skyscrapers were beautiful, and I found that we were joined by lots of other urban runners who appear to have learned about this golden hour well before me!
For the next 30 days I’m dedicating myself to running with Dina’s night crew. For those who have been following my vinyasa yoga experience, I’d like to add that my goal is to also incorporate yoga at least once a week.
