Cooking With Grapeseed Oil

Although grapeseed oil contains omega-6 fats, it does not have the unhealthy ramifications of hydrongenated oils. Instead grapeseed oil is heroic in its ability to withstand high-heat cooking. Use it for baking or sauteing, it has a light flavor.

Grapeseed oil has a relatively high smoke point (about 420 degrees F), so it can be safely used to cook at high temperatures. It’s a practical choice for salad dressings, stir fries, sauteing, pancakes and baked goods. It has a clean, light taste that has been described as “nutty.”

Skin and Hair Uses

Many say it’s great for repairing damaged or stressed tissues. It has a high amount of linoleic acid, which is frequently used in beauty products as an anti-inflammatory, to reduce acne, and moisturize.

It can be used as a hot oil treatment on the hair – some say it leaves the hair shiny and bouncy.
