Traditional Food Pyramid

Traditional Food Pyramid

If you haven’t heard already – the food pyramid we learned in elementary school is flawed. Some say, its purpose is not to teach us to eat healthier, but instead pump up sales of milk, beef and grains. A diet high in highly refined grains, meat and dairy is actually quite bad for us. The creator of the Honest Food Pyramid goes even further by saying the traditional food pyramid is racially biased since nonwhite races are more likely to be lactose intolerant and some are more susceptible to diet-related chronic illnesses including heart disease, stroke, hypertension, obesity, diabetes and certain types of cancer.

This thought is in line with an interview I did recently with author Jessica Porter about the Yin and Yang of Food. She says our bodies are not equipped to handle dairy.

I’ve laid out some of the ideas of the Honest Food Pyramid. You can also download it for free and decide for yourself.

Okay, so you’re saying that the food pyramid is a marketing game?
