3 o’clock and your stomach is demanding something sweet and savory – STAT! Eat, Drink and Be Gorgeous says the secret to keeping yourself out of that desperate state is to eat in regular intervals. Eating every three to four hours stokes up your metabolism, gives you strong mental focus, puts your body in a fat-burning mode, keeps sugar cravings at bay and keeps your blood sugar balanced.  Here are some good portable snacks that won’t wreck your waistline:

  • Hard Boiled Eggs
  • Celery with peanut butter
  • Turkey slices smeared with avocado and rolled up
  • Handful of raw nuts
  • Apple slices with peanut butter
  • Carrots and hummus
  • Vegetable and guacamole
  • Yogurt and fruit

Use protein bars for emergency purposes, don’t go overboard since they usually contain a lot of processed gunk. If you must raid the vending machine stick to pretzels and nuts or cheese and crackers. And try to scrounge up some water!
