Another McDonald’s ad – “yawn” but this one caught my eye. “Served in West Seattle, Made in East Wenatchee.”
Tonight I logged on and conducted a Google search of the ad campaign. Looks like it’s part of a larger one here in Western Washington called “Grown here. Picked here. From here.” McDonald’s says it’s a new way of providing transparency on the sources of its food.
Seattle blogger Gilman Park wrote about it here and also snapped some photos of a billboard in the Ballard neighborhood. What are your thoughts about this new “local” campaign? Basically…does it work on/for you?

In an area that’s hog wild for supporting anything local, this is a brilliant marketing move. Given the state of our food supply, you can’t help but wonder if potatoes grown in WA actually make it into stores in WA. How long before corn farmers drum up something similar to push HFCS?

Great that it is local but it is still McDonalds, If I have the choice between local Blue Moon Burgers or McDonalds–I would rather give my money to the small business owner with organic meat from WA and gluten free buns from WA versus corporate chain with over processed, fatty, just plan bad for you crap. I love Seattle because I do have a choice and I love the little guy!

I’m not going to lie, as much as I try to stay away from McDonald’s I find myself going there sometimes, especially when I’m starving and out shopping or busy. I guess I just have to plan better? Anyway, these ads just make me made because I know what they’re trying to do, they ain’t foolin’ nobody.
