Weekly tips from the book Eat, Drink & Be Gorgeous
The Virtues Of The Coconut
The poor coconut has been given a bad wrap for so many years, for no good reason! Coconut has incredible health properties. It fights viruses and boosts the immune system, helps burn body fat and is easy to digest!
Coconut oil also contains saturated fat , which makes it extremely stable for high-heat cooking. Use it for popping corn, or any other high heat cooking. It adds a light flavor to your food and is wonderful in curry sauces. Fresh coconut makes a naturally sweet and rich addition to trail mixes, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit and freshly juiced green drinks. And for super dry skin, massage a little coconut oil into your skin – it is incredibly hydrating. (NewNaturalista uses it on her hair!)
Next week: Grind ‘em up! The virtues of flaxseeds and flaxseed oil!

I used to hate the flavor of coconut…somehow over time I’ve developed an affinity for coconut flavor. I’ve never used it in cooking…but I love using coconut oil on my skin and hair. It does wonders, and I swear its made my hair grow!
