Originally from Washington, DC – the Casa di Culture sisters now consider the world their home – living in the US, Brazil and Switzerland. Their extensive travels are the inspiration behind Casa di Culture’s print t-shirts, earrings and scarves – which are made with 100 percent certified organic cotton and non PVC dyes. Casa di Culture’s signature button earrings are handmade in-house, and the silver jewelry is hand-casted by their own personal jeweler!

NewNaturalista: Travel is important to you, tell us why?

Casa di Culture: Travel is important to us because it removes you from your comfort zone and places you in another climate, lifestyle and culture. It’s an experience that allows one to examine their own behavior, communication skills, and even survival techniques. We believe that travel and cultural exchange are the best way to unite one another.

NewNaturalista: How would you describe your design aesthetic?

Casa di Culture: Our aesthetic is subtle yet informative. One example of this is our ‘Ueber Retro’ t-shirt whose image traces a form of martial arts that began in Angola, migrated to Brazil as capoeira and then made it to New York as breakdance.

NewNaturalista: Advice for those who might want to travel but have the notion that its expensive?

Casa di Culture: We love this question because today there are so many different ways to travel on a budget. The world has greatly changed over the last few years and many options are now available. You can travel with exchange groups, agri-tourism or work/stay programs, school, or on your own for very little. Staying with friends, in a youth hostel or renting out an apartment with a group can prove to be much cheaper than hotel rooms. Airline prices are also much cheaper now and you can find great deals with a bit of patience and research.

Casa di Culture’s 5 F’s:

Fashion – sustainable

Fitness – a must

Food – organic

Family – global

Focus - Necessary to excel
